- Barium Sulphate
Barium sulphate (or sulfate) is the inorganic compound with the chemical formula BaSO4. It is a white crystalline solid that is odorless and insoluble in water.
Barium sulphate can be used in coatings to improve its thickness, surface hardness, and resistance to abrasion, water, heat, and impact. It can also be used as a filler for plastics to increase the density of the polymer in vibrational mass damping applications, especially in polypropylene and polystyrene plastics.

Barium sulphate is also called barite in nature, which is a natural ore whose colour is mainly determined by the type and amount of impurities it contains; pure barite is colourless and transparent.
Barite is used in added-value applications which include filler in paint and plastics, sound reduction in engine compartments, coat of automobile finishes for smoothness and corrosion resistance, friction products for automobiles and trucks, radiation shielding concrete, glass ceramics, and medical applications.
Barium sulphate for industrial use is usually divided into four categories – natural barium sulphate, precipitated barium sulphate, modified barium sulphate, and nano barium sulphate. They are used as fillers in the production of coatings, plastics, rubber, glass, ceramics, friction materials, etc. Hoyonn offers various types of barium sulphate products to satisfy your demands.
Natural Barium Sulphate
Natural barium sulphate is made from high-quality barite ore that has been selected, cleaned, polished and dried. It is usually used in the production of white pigments or as a filler in paint, plastic, and ink industries. Click here to learn more about Hoyonn Natural Barium Sulphate ->
Precipitated/Synthetic Barium Sulphate
Precipitated barium sulphate is produced by the chemical reaction between barium sulphide and sodium sulphate solution (BaS + Na2SO4 → BaSO4↓ + Na2S), which has higher purity and whiteness than the natural one. It can be used as a filler in mid- to high-end coatings, plastics, rubber, glass, and ceramics due to its high stability. Click here to learn more about Hoyonn Precipitated Barium Sulphate ->
Modified/Nano Barium Sulphate
Modified barium sulphate, high-quality barite powder procesed by special filtration and surface treatment technologies, has more excellent mechanical performances. Click here to learn more about Hoyonn Modified Barium Sulphate ->
Modified nano precipitated barium sulphate has ultrafine particle size that its D50 is controlled between 0.2μm-0.4μm. It can be used in production of transparent functional filling masterbatches, automotive coatings, modified plastics, etc. Click here to learn more about Hoyonn Modified Nano Precipitated Barium Sulphate ->
