Aluminum Trihydrate (ATH) for Flame Retardant

Aluminum trihydrate (molecular formula: Al(OH)3,  also called aluminum hydroxide, ATH), is the most widely used flame retardant in the world due to its versatility and low cost. It can be used as a filler in coatings and polymers, and can also used in solid surface treatment. ATH is considered to be the most economical and practical flame retardant which also has a smoke suppression function.

Our aluminum trihydrate is produced from unique processing in which the growth of the aluminum hydroxide original grain is controlled, so as to obtain the ultra-fine aluminum hydroxide micro-powder with complete grain, narrow particle size distribution and high whiteness. During the drying process, the ATH powder is always in its original grain form, which makes the ATH product an environmentally friendly inorganic flame retardant for rubber, plastics and other polymer materials with good compatibility and dispersion.

Principle of Flame Retardant

Aluminum trihydrate absorbs heat and decomposes into aluminum oxide and water, the decomposition products are safe, non-toxic and non-corrosive. The reaction absorbs a large amount of heat during the combustion of the polymer, thus protecting the polymer from rapid decomposition and delaying the flammable by-products to generate. The resulting water vapor replaces oxygen and acts like an inert gas. The protective layer of alumina and carbonation products is formed on the polymer surface to further inhibit combustion, and this protective layer also reduces smoke density by adsorbing soot particles.

Packaging and Storage

Packaging: 25kg/bag. The outer layer is made of polypropylene plastic woven bag, and the inner layer is made of polyethylene plastic bag.

Storage: Store in dry and ventilated warehouse. Prevent moisture, rain and package damage during transportation.
