Precipitated Barium Sulphate

Hoyonn Precipitated Barium Sulphate (HY-PBS) is a barium sulphate product with its original particle size, synthesized by controlling the chemical reaction between high-purity barium sulphide and sodium sulphate solution (BaS + Na2SO4 → BaSO4↓ + Na2S).

It has outstanding performances including high whiteness, low oil absorption, low wear rate, and low scattering.

It is usually applied for products that require more refined filler, such as coatings, plastics, electronic inks, etc.

Precipitated barium sulphate has a French name “blanc fixe” for “permanent white”, a fine powder manufactured and sold as a permanent, stable white pigment.

Product Features

1. HY-PBS is acid and alkali resistant, and also has super stable resistance against light and weather in organic media.

2. We use advanced grinding technology and professional crystal form control in the production of HY-PBS. Its unique narrow particle size distribution, ultrafine particle size, good specific surface area, and low viscosity, makes it suitable for diversified applications.

3. HY-PBS has low wear rate due to its hardness value of 3Mohs 3.

Advantages of Precipitated Barium Sulphate

Due to different processing, natural barium sulphate and precipitated barium sulphate are distinguished in the following aspects of performance.

Purity: The purity of natural barium sulphate generally depends on the barite in the mine, which may contain a certain impurities. Precipitated barium sulphate is chemically synthesised to remove a wide range of impurities. The BaSO4 content can reach 99% after extraction and precipitation treatments.

Particle size: Natural barium sulphate is processed by physical grinding, the particle size of which is ranging from 200 to 6,000 mesh. While precipitated barium sulphate has much higher fineness of about 10000 mesh or more.

Application areas: Natural barium sulphate is usually used in industries where don’t require much high performances in BaSO4 content, fineness, PH value, dispersion, whiteness, or oil absorption, such as ordinary paints and plastics. Precipitated barium sulphate can be used as filler for more high-end fine chemical products, including water-based coatings, automotive coatings, electronic ink, etc.
